Undisputed heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk and British heavyweight Tyson Fury are set for a highly anticipated rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Organizers confirmed this on Wednesday, following their thrilling bout earlier this month. 

 

The 37-Year Old Ukranian has won all 22 of his pro fights. Usyk, now the current WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO champion, defeated Fury by split decision at the Kingdom Arena, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in April 2000.

 

Usyk immediately agreed to grant Fury a rematch, honoring a clause in their fight contract.

 

“The rematch between the Undisputed Champion Oleksandr Usyk and the Champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on December 21, 2024, during Riyadh Season,” announced Saudi entertainment head and organizer Turki Alalshikh on X.

 

While Alalshikh did not specify a venue for the rematch but confirmed it would occur “during Riyadh Season.” Riyadh Season is a winter entertainment festival launched in 2019, known for hosting numerous high-profile boxing events. 

This announcement adds to the festival’s growing reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events. The rematch promises another historical fight, continuing their commitment to boxing fans worldwide. Usyk VS Fury delivered an unforgettable battle, and both fighters are gearing up for another intense clash. 

Earlier this week, Fury’s promoter Frank Warren expressed confidence in Fury’s ability to turn things around in the rematch. “I think he can, he believes he can,” Warren told Sky Sports. “It was a fight of two halves. Tyson knows what he has to do, and I’m sure Usyk does too.
